America’s Only Hope

Like many of you, I too am fighting back an array of emotions as I reflect upon the recent tragedies across our country, most recently in Dallas. The landscape of our nation is quickly changing and it breaks my heart to see our great country divided in so many ways. Some say racism is to blame while others point to LGBT discrimination and political corruptness. While these particular issues are concerning, they are not the problem. In America, it’s not a racial problem, it’s not a police problem, it’s not an LGBT problem or even a political problem – it’s a sin problem. What did we as a nation think would happen when we threw God out of our schools and out of our government? What did we as parents think would happen when we substituted family devotions for more time on the Xbox? What did the church think would happen when it bowed the knee to political correctness and no longer called right, right and sin, sin?

If you watch the news, they will tell us that we need new policies, new regulations to fix our problems. While that may be true, what this country really needs is Jesus. Our country needs Jesus, our communities need Jesus, our churches need Jesus, and our homes need Jesus. Now more than ever, we as Christians need to show the world the love of Jesus. We’ve been quiet far too long while our country slides further and further into moral decay. In Matthew 5:14-16 we read that we as Christians are the light of the world and that we must let our light shine brightly to the world. Did you know darkness can’t grow on its own? Darkness is simply the absence of light. You know why our nation is growing darker and darker? It’s because we as Christians aren’t being lights to this dark world!

If there was ever a time for Christians and churches to come together, now is the time. We must put aside our petty differences if we’re ever going to see God move in our communities and across this great country. I’ve been reading a lot lately about revival and how God has used Great Awakenings and revivals to literally change the landscape of our country and even around the world in times past. I’m convinced that the only hope America has is a mighty move of God and the only way we’re ever going to see God do the unimaginable is if His people will become desperate for His touch once again and fall head over heels in love with Jesus. We must stop looking at all the sin around us and address the sin in our own lives. Before we ever see a public revival, there must be a personnel revival in our own lives. In Psalm 85:6 it reads, “With thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?” David saw the desperate need of God in his day and became desperate in his prayer life. That verse excites me because I know if God can send revival in days past, He can surely do it again! In fact, He even gives us a blueprint of revival in 2 Chronicles 7:14. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

It’s time for God’s children to pray and seek the face of God for our nation. It’s time for churches to come together and believe God for big things in our communities. There is a great stirring of God’s people across our country and it’s exciting to see what God is going to do when we come together and seek His face as a body of believers. I’m praying for God to manifest His power once again. I need it, my children and family needs it, and our country needs it! I can’t help but hear Sister Clara praying in the movie “War Room” that God would raise up some warriors for Him in these days! Will you join me in praying for a mighty move of God? Oh and don’t worry, I included the movie clip from “War Room” below. Raise em up Lord, raise em up!

Believing God,
Dustin
