What Fragrance are You?

“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.  For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.  To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life.  And who is sufficient for these things?”   II Corinthians 2:14-16

As I walked into one of the bathrooms at the church today, I was startled by a mist of air freshener that shot into my face.  I have walked into this particular bathroom hundreds of times and this was the first time that I was hit in the face by the automatic air freshener that hangs on the wall.  As a result, I now smell like an air freshener that you hang in your car.

After the shock and then after a good laugh, the Holy Spirit began to remind me of the passage that is quoted above.  II Corinthians 2 reminds us that we as followers of Jesus are to be air fresheners in this world, a world saturated with the smell of death, sin, evil, selfishness, hatred, etc.  This scripture encourages us to be the aroma of life and hope to a world lost in hopelessness.

The description on this particular air freshener can reads “eliminates odors and freshens the air.”  Do you eliminate odors at the school where you attend? Do you freshen the air at the place where you work?  II Corinthians says that God wants to “diffuse the fragrance of His knowledge in every place” through us.   Does your life give off the “fragrance of Christ?

If you run into me today, I may smell like a pine tree.  But more importantly, I hope I give off the fragrance of Christ!

Life is a Journey, learn on the way!

Till next time, stay in the Scripture!
